Ottowa, Ontario — GaN Systems, a developer of power conversion semiconductors for cleantech applications, has raised its first round of venture capital, which was led byChrysalix Energy Venture Capital and Rockport Capital.
Founded in 2008, GAN Systems is focused on bringing to market gallium nitride semiconductor devices targeted specifically at the demand for more efficient power conversion for electric vehicles, solar and wind generation, smart-grid switching and lithium battery management.
The company’s semiconductor technology is based on over 10 years of research at theNational Research Council of Canada. It is designed to improve the economics of power devices by reducing energy conversion losses and increasing power production.
