Enki Technology, a pioneer in multi-functional coatings for solar applications, today announced that it was awarded a $2 million cooperative agreement by the U.S. Department of Energy SunShot Initiative through its Solar Manufacturing Technology program to deploy a fully integrated solar glass coating manufacturing line at Flextronics’ Customer Innovation Center in Milpitas, CA.

“Extensive lab and field testing with leading solar module and glass companies and independent labs continues to validate the performance of our CleanARC® platform of highly durable, anti-reflective, and anti-soiling coatings,” said Kevin Kopczynski, CEO of Enki Technology. “We greatly appreciate this further recognition from the Energy Department as well as this cooperative award.” This project will enable Flextronics to showcase a high volume CleanARC® material coating line to reduce production costs, and provide end customers with improved product functionality – creating additional value in US module manufacturing and for end customers.

About Enki Technology
Enki Technology is pioneering the development of functionalized coatings for the solar photovoltaic industry to improve energy production and module reliability, and to reduce soiling losses. Enki’s CleanARC® platform functionalizes glass surfaces to deliver the best possible performance over the life of a solar project for a particular end customer or usage environment. System owners and operators benefit from increased lifetime energy capture, reduced O&M costs, and lower levelized costs of electricity.

About the SunShot Initiative
The U.S. Department of Energy SunShot Initiative is a collaborative national effort that aggressively drives innovation to make solar energy fully cost-competitive with traditional energy sources before the end of the decade. Through SunShot, the Energy Department supports efforts by private companies, universities, and national laboratories to drive down the cost of solar electricity to $0.06 per kilowatt-hour.
